Continuous Assessment 2 – Report & Portfolio
The total mark for this assessment is 100.
This constitutes 75% of the total marks for this subject.
Students will produce an individual report of 1,500 words (exclude bibliography) and supporting portfolio of evidence drawing upon knowledge and skills gained from lectures, workshops and tutorials throughout the module. The students will select from one of the following events;
a) An incentive travel of one company
b) An outdoor community event
c) A conference related to one industry
d) A festival created to stimulate tourism in Shanghai
Essential elements in the report;
a) Identify the aim of the event and 3 SMART objectives
b) Identify an appropriate planning process/model
c) Explain processes within detailed plan; also including the design of WBS, task analysis and operational roles
d) Select an appropriate venue for the event and evidence venue screening
e) Identify the events stakeholders
f) Demonstrate what green measures can be implemented to make the event environmentally sustainable.
Essential items for the supporting portfolio;
f) Delivery of a timely marketing plan, operations schedule and financial plan (supporting documents used in event plan rather than detailed analysis)
g) Carry out a risk analysis for the event using appropriate best practice
h) Provide a site/venue plan
i) Feedback/evaluation methods
