BUS 1050 EVALUATIVE WRITING - INDIVIDUAL PAPERS

BUS1050

EVALUATIVE WRITINGS:
There will be three (3) written evaluations turned in during the term.  Each evaluation must address one (1) of the issues for consideration listed under each writing assignment.  Each evaluation will be typed or word processed, standard margins, 10 or 12 Times New Roman font, and required cover and bibliography pages.  The cover page must include the student’s name, ID number (all names and ID numbers of the group assignment in alphabetical order by last name), the full wording of the selected issue for consideration from this syllabus, BUS 1050 and section number, and date.  The bibliography page must be in a single format with full URLs for web references in order to be validated.  All pages must be stapled together in the upper left corner.  Because instructions are part of our adult lives in many types of situations, students not following these instructions cannot expect greater than a C grade on the assignment.  Wikipedia is not considered a valid resource or reference for work in this class.  Plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for the assignment and is considered cheating.

    INDIVIDUAL PAPERS.
There will be two individual papers submitted.  Each paper will be your assessment of the Issue for Consideration selected, one page, double spaced in length.  Reference to one or more of our readings to date is required in your assessment.  This will require clear and concise thinking, good editing and communication.

Paper #1 concept:   Today, we have access to technology which provides us with information, misinformation, opinion, spin, perspectives and search results which support previous search results.   This technology may not provide easy access to alternate perspectives, opinions, new information or other research.
Issue for consideration 1: Assess the conflict between the ability to easily support and be exposed to a single perspective on an issue, and the need to be an informed person in modern society.
Issue for consideration 2: Assess the importance to modern society of what has gone before.  Does it matter that many individuals have little or no memory of history?
