1. An example is the tax deductibility of self-education expenses. From 1 January 2017 Canada eliminated the education and textbook tax credit system. If you chose this topic you could look at why Canada did this, is it a good idea or bad idea, what should Australia do?
2. If you chose to compare with China then you would look at something China does differently from Australia. An example could be that China has different tax rates for employed individuals, for self-employed people running a business and for self-employed people providing a service.
